7.1 Bathroom Beat
After waking up to the faucet running in my bathroom, I decided to take advantage of the natural ambiences available in the bathroom to see if I could make a hip-hop beat. I am not unfamiliar with making beats, so I went about gathering sounds based upon the basic components that make up every standard beat: a main melody, a kick, a snare, and a high-hat. Each sound that I picked to go in the composition was picked with the intention of using it to fulfill one of these basic beat-making components.

This is really creative Darien! I love how you made your own composition, turning the running faucet into an instrument and making and enticing beat. I can imagine this being used for performance art or a dance sequence. I think if you were to take it further, you could vary the beat more and integrate other sounds into the composition. Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of combining normal bathroom voices into a hip-hop beat. I actually was intended to do the same thing, but I was not able to manage. And I think you did a really good job. The beats contain strong and light ones, in order to include diversity. Yet the opening part is a bit to long, it may take a long time for audiences to understand what you are doing if you do not explain by the side. Maybe you can cut into main theme more directly.
ReplyDeleteHey Darien, I think the finished work for this assignment is brilliant! It sounds easy, playful and very well composed. I love how you take advantage of all the natural ambiences around you to make the beat, and I could imagine this being used in real production, such as animation, music videos or a dance performance.
ReplyDeleteAwesome job on this assignment Darien. You have made the bathroom sound cool which is hard to do. It's playful and exemplifies your understanding of music and beat making. I could imagine this being taken further by creating a video to go along with it. What would a bathroom video collage look like? Maybe we don't want to know...
